Mike O’Hara

Mike served for many years as the Junior Women’s Novice Coach under Gordon Getsinger,  as well as the Director of the club’s Beginner/ Intermediate Program. In 2022 O’Hara took over the girls program as the Head Coach. O’Hara’s own rowing career began on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia as a member of the La Salle College High School Crew Team. Following his years competing for the Explorers Mike was recruited by various colligate programs and went on to row for the Syracuse Orangemen.  In his seasons on Lake Onondaga, O’Hara earned 3 Varsity letters and competed internationally at the Henley Royal Regatta.

Prior to joining Saugatuck Coach Mike made his living as an actor and musician while living in Los Angeles and New York City. Being a novice coach and working with beginners/ intermediate athletes gives him the opportunity to entertain while he instructs. He believes firmly in allowing the oarsman/oarswoman to be themselves while excelling in the team dynamic.
