Saman Majd
Commodore for 2007-2008
The Saugatuck Rowing Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Darien resident Saman Majd as the club's commodore. This is actually a reappointment as Majd was named commodore March of last year. Generally, the position is a one-year term, but it is being extended.

Majd has a long history of rowing, having started at the age of 14 while attending St. Paul's School in London. He later rowed for his college, Christ Church at Oxford and was Captain of the college boat club in his senior year. At Oxford, Majd also rowed for the university JV in 1976, called "Isis", in the race against Cambridge's JV (called "Goldie"). The Isis-Goldie race takes place 30 minutes before, and over the same course as the varsity boat race between Oxford and Cambridge. He was stroke of the Isis crew that year, which set a new course record (breaking the previous varsity record).
