Prior to joining SRC, Chad was part of the management teams for premier country clubs and fitness facilities in Greenwich and Darien, and in Ridgefield Ct. as a Director of Operations. His focus involved development, business operations, creative programming, customer service and sales and marketing. Those lessons of fair & balanced team work combined with his work experience, customer service focus, problem solving and mechanical abilities together brings a sound level of balanced leadership to the Club.
Mary Green Club Concierge
Mary is a graduate of Iowa State University with a BA degree in Liberal Arts, with a concentration in Physical Education and Recreation.
Mary has over ten years experience in the Fitness Industry. She was a Sales Manager at Crunch Fitness in NYC and then General Manager of The River Terrace Health Club.
Nicoleta Mantescu Rowing Director
Nicoleta started rowing as a teenager and became a member of the Romanian Junior National Team that won numerous international championships. After graduating from the Romanian Institute for Physical Education, she started her coaching career first as a club coach and then coach of the National Team that won first place in the Olympic Games in Barcelona and the World Championships in Indianapolis. Nicoleta started working as Assistant Director of the Romanian Rowing Federation, supervising and coordinating all rowing activities in Romania. She came to the US in 1995, and started coaching at SRC where she has been instrumental in developing the Junior, Novice and Masters Programs.
Shaun Harrington Fitness Director
A native of Massachusetts, Shaun attended the University of Massachusetts graduating with a degree in Exercise Science. Shaun has been an educational instructor for the American College of Sports Medicine for their annual national workshops for the past four years.
Currently he is NSCA- CSCS, & CPT and ACSM-CPT certified. He also holds a level one & two triathlon coach certification and has been a tennis teaching professional for over ten years.
Shaun has held positions as Fitness Director and Manager for Ritz-Carlton Hotels/Clubs in Aspen and Vail Colorado, as well as Wellbridge Athletic Clubs both in Colorado and Massachusetts. Most recently he was the Assistant Director of Recreation at Harvard University.
Shaun specializes in sport specific training, pre and post rehab, functional training, flexibility, and strength and weight loss. Shaun brings a unique ability to work with a variety of clients to reach their goals in a successful manner realistic approach. Setting realistic goals to follow, learning to make exercise fun and making it a life long journey long will set you on the write path.
Linda Nardone Club Comptroller
Linda is a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in Sports Marketing and Management. She has been a competitive athlete all her life and was inducted into her high school Hall of Fame as a 3-sport athlete and attended UConn on a four-year athletic scholarship for basketball.
Today, Linda is a championship golfer. She is an 25-year veteran of the health club industry as a results oriented business manager, and has served as a board member on the New England Health, Racquet and Sports Club Association representing Connecticut.
John Holzwarth Executive Chef
John Holzwarth has been cooking professionally since 1995, having had the opportunity to train under Master Chef Fortunato Nicotra and Lidia Bastianvich at Felidia Restaurant in New York City. Most recently, John has collaborated with the co-founder of The Dressing Room, Michel Nischan, acting as the Executive Chef of that American cuisine, farm to table restaurant for the past two years. John has experimented with various cuisines throughout his career, but finds his greatest inspiration from creating innovative, healthy organic farm fresh dishes while supporting local farmers and their sustainable agricultural and aquacultural practices.
His passion for using local, organic and sustainable foods is reflected in the various causes he has generously donated his time to support, including ArtFoodHope (organized by Alice Waters, The Dressing Room was one of twelve restaurants chosen nationwide to coordinate a private benefit dinner for the January 2009 Inauguration of President Barack Obama); Chefs for a Cause benefiting The Yale Sustainable Food Project; the 2009 Global Environmental Citizen Awards honoring Her Majesty Queen Noor and Edward Norton presented by the Harvard Center for Health and the Global Environment) and the Wholesome Wave Foundation Benefit working alongside Jacques Pepin and Michel Nishan in 2008.
John’s appetite for experiencing new food and cultures has been cultivated by extensive travel through Central and South America, as well as Europe. On the rare day that he is not creating in the kitchen, you can find him experimenting with various organic hops and developing new micro-brews like his spring “Holzweissen” and his descriptive “Vaastwarth pale-ale”.
He is supported in all his endeavors by his Argentine wife, Eliana Vera. John graduated from the University of Maine with a major in economics and a minor in Spanish Literature. In whatever free time he has left, he enjoys sailing and literature.
Laura Gillis Restaurant Manager
Native Californian and former Wolfgang Puck employee, Laura Gillis spent 10 years working for celebrity chefs in 3-star New York restaurants (Gotham Bar & Grill, Lutece). After 7 years working as banquet director at both L'Escale and Gaia restaurants in Greenwich, Ct, she seized the opportunity to become manager of The Riverview Restaurant in January 2009.
