Costel, a native of Romania, has been the Executive Director at Saugatuck Rowing club since 2012. He is responsible for all aspects of the Club, including fitness in the Club’s state of the art gym facility and the group exercise programs offered daily by top instructors. Costel also directs the rowing programs at the club, overseeing both Masters Rowing and the Juniors Programs, both of which send Saugatuck’s competitive rowers annually to the USRowing Masters and Youth National Championships, where Saugatuck rowers are perennial medal winners. Saugatuck rowers place well at all competitions, including the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta every October. In 2012, Costel’s Master Women’s Four won Gold at the HOCR ahead of 19 other highly-trained competitors.
Costel is a certified U.S. Rowing level III coach and instructs all levels. He has a degree in Exercise and Sport Science with concentration in rowing and soccer from University of Bacau, Romania and acquired his coaching skills during a long career as an Olympic rower. He is a 12 time member of the Romanian National Rowing Team and won medals in the Junior World Championships, the U23 World Championships, World Cups, and Senior World Championships. Following a sixth place finish in the Sydney Olympic Games, he coached the Romanian U23 National Team before coming to the US and developing the Greenwich Rowing Club Masters and Junior programs. He has also coached the girls crew at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Greenwich, Connecticut. Costel is married with 2 daughters and his newest addition George, future quarterback. Prior to joining SRC from 1995, Chad has been part of the management teams and premier private clubs and fitness facilities in Greenwich, Darien and in Ridgefield Ct as a Director of Operations. His focus involves general management, development, business operations, creative programming, property management, and sales and marketing. Those lessons of balanced team work combined with a focus on customer service, problem solving and mechanical abilities together, bring a sound level of leadership to the Club.

Sharon graduated from Rutgers University in 1998 with a B.S. in Exercise Science and Sports Studies. She took up rowing in her freshman year and went on to lead the Scarlet Knights to many top finishes and was named MVP in her senior year. While at Rutgers Sharon also competed on the 1997 and 1998 USA Under 23 National Team, winning a silver medal at the 1998 Under 23 World Championships in Ioannina, Greece.
Sharon came to Saugatuck as a coach in the fall of 2000 and lead the masters and junior women to medals at The Head of the Charles, US Masters National Championships, World Masters Championships, Northeast Regional Junior Championships, and US Club National Championships. During that time she also continued her own rowing career in the single and won the elite single at the 2003 US National Championships. In 2005, in the bow seat of the US Women’s 8+, Sharon placed 3rd at the Munich World Cup Regatta and 4th at the World Championships in Gifu, Japan.
In November of 2006 she took over as the Saugatuck Director of Junior Rowing/Head Junior Boys Coach. Since then the Saugatuck Junior Team has sent many athlete on to row at top level college such as Harvard, Brown, Dartmouth, Columbia, Cornell, Yale, Princeton, Penn, Michigan, and Virginia. Several athletes have competed at the Junior World Championships and many medals have been won at the Head of the Charles, Youth National Championships and US Club National Championships.

Allison has been the Fitness Director for Saugatuck since 2010. She has been training at Saugatuck since 2004 and locally for over 12 years. In addition to training, Allison conducts nutritional consultations at the club as well as coaching adult novice rowing. She spent several years running the Darien High School, St. Luke’s School varsity sailing and Noroton Yacht Club junior sailing programs.
Allison has a strong knowledge of medical conditions, orthopedic assessment, injury and prevention. She works with clients to continue their rehab base and progress beyond their injury to a more fully functional life.
She also believes that success comes to those who are willing to change the way they approach exercise and nutrition. It takes continued dedication on both parts to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. She tries to integrate knowledge of healthy eating, with sound exercise information and technique to achieve maximal results.

Mary has over fifteen years experience in the Fitness Industry. She was a Sales Manager at Crunch Fitness in NYC and then General Manager of The River Terrace Health Club on the Upper East Side in NYC. Mary is a graduate of Iowa State University with a BA degree in Liberal Arts, with a concentration in Physical Eduaction and Recreation.
